An enthralling super sunday of sports

Probably no other day in the whole sports history was as exciting as July 11 of 2021. This fantastic sunday had Copa America final between Brazil and Argentina, final day of the only test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, Wimbledon final and Euro final between England and Italy. Four finals in just a single day! A day worth remembering, isn’t it?
The day started off with the perfect starter of the Copa America final between Brazil and Argentina. Argentina finally broke their jinx of 28 years of not winning a trophy by beating their arch rival Brazil. Angel di Maria struck a clever goal in the first half to ensure the 1-0 victory as well as a couple of great saves again by the semifinal hero Emi Martinez also helped to contain Brazil off the victory. But perhaps the best outcome of the final was the embracing of Messi and Neymar after the match. We Bangladeshis kill each other to show our support to Brazil or Argentina, whereas how nicely they embrace each other after a win or even after a defeat!
After a great starter, the day of 11th July presented the main meal to us, the Bangladeshi people- the final day of the only test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe needed 337 runs on the last day to win the match but fierceful bowling of Taskin destroyed even a little possibility of Zimbabwe to win the test match. That fierceful bowling of Taskin Ahmed alongside Mahmudullah getting Man of the match award in his last test match and a much wanted test match victory- undoubtedly it was one of the most satisfying days in Bangladesh cricket, just like having a satisfying plate of kacchi biryani as your main meal. Now if the test match win of Bangladesh was as delicious as kacchi biryani, the Wimbledon winning of Novak Djokovic was like the borhani. Djokovic won the final to equal the record 20 grand slams with Roger Federar and Rafael Nadal.
After finishing such a pleasant meal, you may be thinking of a nice dessert to finish off. The Euro final between England and Italy in the iconic Wembley was that very delicate dessert. Being at a 1-1 draw state even after 120 minutes, the final match saw an enthralling and perhaps a satisfying finish, just as a mind refreshing Lassi or some spoons of deep yogurt. It’s coming to Rome instead of coming home. Italy finally was able to change the teasing English slogan by winning the tiebreaker brilliantly. Special penalty substitutes Rashford and Snacho missed their tiebreaker chances by proving English coach Southgate’s mind-blowing(!) strategy wrong. The other tiebreaker miss was from Saka. On the other hand, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donarumma became the hero for Italy. Saving two shots and silencing the roaring Wembley while facing immense pressure of tiebreaker was no easy task, I must say.
In the end, there is little doubt that a sports fan had got so much thrill before. This being one of the most suspenseful days ever in sports history, one thing is for sure, this day can’t fade away, no one can and will never forget this day.
